Meet the 'I'm Gonna Do That' Girl

Hi. I'm Rachel.
I'm what I like to call a "I'm Gonna Do That" girl.

"Hey, check out this cool DIY project!"
Ohh, I'm gonna do that.

"Europe was just as amazing as every college acquaintance I've ever made told me it would be. You should really check it out."
Ohh, I'm totally going to do that!

"Oh my god, Michael Jackson's corpse has risen and his zombie is going on tour! I'm getting tickets."
OHH, THERE IS NO WAY I'M NOT GONNA DO THAT!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm that chick. The one who is always saying she is going to try to stop sitting on her Macbook all day and go try a new yoga class. The one who is always saying she is going to take that cliche move to New York City. The one who is always saying she is going to start yelling at her neighbors for being the worst parkers in the whole. wide. world.

There's only one problem: my follow-through is equivalent to that of a 5-year-old saying she'll take care of the puppy, Iswear, ohplease,Daddy, pleaaaasseeee, I'llfeedhimandwalkhimeveryday,Iswear,Iswearaaaarrrrrr! I've seen that story. I've been that story my whole life. Come the next day, I'm hanging halfway off my bed, drool rolling down my face at 11 a.m., and the dog has shit the floor three times already.

Well, today I say: no more shit. No more fecal matter left unattended while I slumber away. Except the fecal matter we're talking about here is my life.

Every time I see/hear something I want to do and that little "I'm gonna do that" comes out of my mouth, I'm running straight to this blog and making it public. That means, for once, I have some obligation to actually order those Donald Glover tickets instead of merely refreshing Ticketmaster to make sure they haven't sold out.

My goal is to get to the point where I don't have to use peer-pressure via the Internet to actually do the things I want to do, but my addiction to dreaming rather than doing is debilitating as of right now, and I'm not ashamed to ask for help. So here you have it. My formal request for help to YOU:

Hi, cyberspace junkies. I am currently living in a world inside of my head. I would very much like to connect that world to the real one outside of it. I would greatly appreciate you violently berating me if I do not keep my word. Angry letters or mobs are fine. I will also accept maniacal laughter, text messages (lyke dis, 4 real), and e-mails with poor grammar.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna: post my first "I'm gonna do that" goal.

And there you have it.
This is the beginning of a real life for the "I'm gonna do that" girl.
