Passive-Aggressively Passing on the Issue

I honestly can't write today. I can't ignore the elephant in the room, but I can't stand for another minute to hear people argue with rationality.

I can't write how disgusted I am without being called unpatriotic. I can't write how proud I am of Obama without being told I'm being hoodwinked by the media. (I AM the media?) I can't write how offensive it is as a "regular" American to be told it's unfair the military has to take pay cuts while millions of us "regular" folk around the world are completely unemployed. I can't write how absurd I think it is to put the troops before the larger percentage of the country (the homeless, the sick, the jobless, the hungry) without being told I'm un-American. Maybe wanting to sacrifice some of my own for the good of others IS un-American these days. Canada, are you hiring?

Today, all I can do are my own gonnas. If I dare open my mouth, I am sure to be attacked by an unintelligent fool or under-informed person or a too-conservative psycho.

Sidenote: just because I'm letting this go without writing a diatribe of terrifying proportions doesn't mean I'm not going to post this...

Okay, I'm done. I promise. I won't post another political post ever again if you keep reading, k?

If you want to give me some gonnas to do, email me at:

You have every right to voice your opinions and I like your style , but just because I disagree with some or even all of your substance, does not mean I am any of the demeaning categories you listed above. Americans can disagree without being disagreeable ---or beheaded.

Obama is to be praised for leading the accomplishment of capturing and killing Bin Laden.

You are to be praised for voicing your opinion, just don't trivialize people who may voice theirs, when it disagrees with you.

  2. I don't know who this is, but I think you must not be very schooled in my style if you think I meant that every single person who doesn't agree with me falls into one of the descriptions I chose to use. I first handedly came across these three specific people last night. That's why I didn't use plurals (fool vs. fools, person vs. people, psycho vs. psychos). I wasn't sweeping a group of people into an offensive group as that is not a part of my substance.

Substance, by the way, is the entirety of something. Saying you disagree with my whole substance is disagreeing with my life, my character. If you disagree with my opinion, that's fine, but disagreeing with who I will inherently be for the rest of my life is more offensive than anything I said.

I have been insulted for my opinions, which at their very core are righteous, while those who insult me drive Hummers, bleed oil, and refuse to see the merit in programs that help people other than themselves. I think finally standing up for myself and the majority of Americans isn't wrong. I think shutting up would be.

That being said, most of what I say is a joke. Take it as such. And this is why this is my only and last not-even-political political post.

Any Canadian or UK (I'll take someone from any of the countries) man want to marry me so I can leave?

  3. It is American to think freely and have the right to voice those thoughts. It doesn't matter WHAT your opinion is or who does or doesn't agree with it- that's the beauty of America! You are a considerate, compassionate person and I strongly doubt you'll let that change. There's nothing unpatriotic about you that I have ever seen.

  4. Hey Rachel... if you meet one of those Canadian/UK men, pretty please ensure he has a brother (even a sister would do, really) and send them my way? I would appreciate the gesture more than my mere words can say. :)

And I'm on board 110% with your not-political political post. I'm happy to sit in the same boat with you... I even brought cookies.
